From paved neighborhood lanes to hard-packed gravel or dirt, this bicycle can tackle a wide range of surfaces with its grease-free and rust-free Gates Belt Drive, all terrain tires, and lightweight aluminum frame. THE PRIORITY START 20" LETS KIDS EXPLORE THE WORLD WITH CONFIDENCE AND STYLE
Our Start Series was inspired by our very own kids! We designed a collection of bicycles with sizes and features that cater to little ones as they grow and gain confidence. The Start 20" is ideal for riders (6-11 years old) graduating from a 16-inch bicycle who are pedaling longer distances across varied terrain. Like all our bicycles, it is rooted in our low maintenance, high quality promise built around our rust/grease-free Gates belt drive. Included training wheels round out the package and ensure your child can have a great time on the bike, regardless of where they're starting in their journey. Is your child a little further on in their bike riding journey and doesn't need training wheels? No problem! Just remove them and the Start 20" still functions as a normal bike.
About The Start 20"
ASSEMBLING THE START 20"
The 20-inch bicycle is an important one—it provides a budding cyclist with more control over how and where they ride. You don’t want a cheap toy bicycle that's a hassle to put together and maintain, and can’t stand up to the demands that a young rider puts on it. Let’s be honest—kids aren’t known for taking care of their stuff, at least not our kids! So, the Priority Start 20" has adult-grade features that are scaled down to accommodate little riders with big cycling dreams. As always, the grease/rust-free Gates belt drive is at the core with features that help kids embrace their love of being on a bicycle, coupled with the quality needed to pass it down to siblings or friends.

Chains are the # 1 issue on bicycles. They get dirty, fall off, and they're at a perfect height for kids to grab and then get grease everywhere. Our rust-free and grease-free Gates Belt is cleaner, smoother, and doesn’t require maintenance. Also, it won’t snap off or break under the weight of a rider.
Dual handbrake levers connected to smooth stopping v-brakes allow for a comfortable, confident ride. The levers are placed at a kid-friendly reach for their smaller hands.
Kids bikes get left on lawns with sprinklers, tossed in the back of cars, dropped, and any number of other things that happen with our little ones. The lightweight aluminum frame won’t rust, neither will the alloy wheels and stainless steel spokes. It’s a quality bike built to last long enough for sharing with siblings and friends.
It’s an awesome feeling when your kids are ready to ride with—and without— you. But road debris and sharp stones on bike paths can be a real bummer. Our puncture-resistant tires help protect against unwanted flats.
Learning to ride a bike can be intimidating for some kids. We aimed to make our fit comfortable and approachable for young, growing riders so they would be excited to hop on and embrace the adventure!
The Start 20" comes out of the box with training wheels, ensuring if this is your child's first bike or they need a little help getting over the learning curve of balance, they are ready to hit the ground rolling!
Start here for the Start 20" to get your little one safely riding in comfort, style, and confidence. Note: While height and age range are noted, recommended leg inseam is the primary factor when determining the correct frame size for your child.

We recommend sizing based on your leg inseam. To properly determine your inseam, measure from the top of your crotch to the ground with your shoes off. Please watch the below video and contact us any time with questions!
You have questions. We have answers.
What size is best for my child?
Inseam is best. Start there. While bicycles target age and height, inseam will be the best determining factor for which bicycle is best for your child. As their riding confidence increases, so will their ability to ride bigger bicycles. They will move from a more flat-footed stopping position to their tiptoes, ultimately being able to slide forward off their seat at stopped positions.
Can I add training wheels?
Training wheels can be added to our Start 16". Children that fit the 20" model can be a mixed bag with some graduating from a 16" and already familiar with riding a bike, and some not so much. That's why we included training wheels out of the box with the Start 20". Typically for age-based sizing, riders on our 24" models are already cruising with confidence, so those bicycle models don’t support training wheels.
